Hummingbird

2016-03-23 21.19.42.jpgThe hummingbird symbolises joy and playfulness

Reminding me to create opportunities for love and laughter in my life.

The hummingbird tells one to be more present

Persuading me that the only moment that truly matters is right now.

The hummingbird is a beacon of light and optimism

Convincing me that the darkness can never beat me.

The hummingbird teaches resiliency and adaptability

Proving to me that life will not break me.

This is my latest sketch to commemorate the selection of my new totem animal. I feel the hummingbird, and its symbolism, remind me of the way my mother lived her life. She was taken from me six years ago. I now forge my path ahead without her guidance, love and support. I hope this little hummingbird will give me a sense of strength for the arduous road ahead.

      1. Great minds indeed! Brilliant idea… Not so sure a hummingbird is the typical “male macho” tattoo though…. Hmmmmm! One to think about đŸ™‚

      2. U can make it look masculine with sharp bold linework though so i wouldnt let that stop you if u like the symbolism. Just maybe stick to black and grey, no pink haha

  2. I believe that even though my mother is no longer around (it’s been 28 years), I can still hear/feel her guidance. She has not left you completely. I don’t mean that in a religious way, I’m an atheist, it’s just that her wisdom has been ingrained into your psyche whether you wanted it or not.
